The name SpinSnob was brought to life all because of a Signature Engravable ID Tag necklace! Those necklaces were all the rave in 2014, and I wanted to engrave something that highlighted who I was in 2-10 letters. I was in Naples visiting my mom, and we sat at her computer playing with words when my mom blurted out, “SpinSnob! Shani, you’re a SpinSnob!” It was catchy. It was fire. It’s so me!!!

Indoor cycling became a hobby of mine in 2009. My fitness trainer at the time told me if I wanted a “Body like Britney,” I would need to amp up my cardio and try spin class. He had no idea the monster that he was about to create. I remember my first class was with an instructor named Carly (beast mode) because she set the standard – so much so, that I became a snob about it. When I moved to the East Coast in 2010, I was on a quest to find the best cycling instructors and studio that met my expectations (LOL – I’m serious)! Let’s be clear: if an instructor talks too much during class, has a bad playlist, doesn’t get off the bike during class to engage with riders, or doesn’t really know how to teach – I walk out!

I tested out 5 different studios until I struck gold! It was love at first ride the moment I walked into Flywheel Sports and clipped my shoes into a bike! The music, the energy, the instructors, the community of like-minded people- it was everything! And this is the reason why my mom dubbed me a SpinSnob. The same “distinguishable” expectations I have that made me a SpinSnob transcended and morphed into expectations that I started applying to everything.

What began as a search to find the best spin/cycling studio became a search to find the best restaurants, the best aestheticians, the best places to visit, the best doctors, the best products – the best lifestyle!

I’m thanking my lucky stars that I had the wherewithal to buy the domain years ago, as companies have asked me to give up my SpinSnob name so they can create a brand – No WAY!  That was all the nudging I needed. I  submitted the paperwork for licensing and trademarking, and launched SpinSnob ?

In my professional life, I’m the Director of Communications and Marketing, and I love what I do.

As for the Signature Engravable ID necklace, I still wear it – every single day!

You know you love me.
XOXO,
Shani ?

  1. Never underestimate the power of ideas. This was a funny and catchy post. Yaas for undergoing the process of trademark!! This is a prime example of doing what you love, loving what you do, and sticking to it all the way. I’m happy you chose to keep and purchase your domain as this is something so personal, near and dear to your heart. SPINSNOB IS NOT FOR SALE!!!
